How each paycheck is worked out

The calculator runs the whole year one paycheck at a time, the way payroll does. The figure per paycheck is your first paycheck of the year, and each yearly figure adds up all of your paychecks, so the totals stay exact when Social Security stops at its wage base or Paid Family Leave reaches its cap partway through the year. When a paycheck changes, the calculator says which one and why.

Every line is rounded to the cent on each paycheck, and the yearly total is the sum of those rounded amounts, as on a real pay stub.
